After integration of your AWS accounts, you may find that your account(s) are listed with information as to the Account ID, however, without a name or description. The reason that this could be occurring may be due to your account not having been configured with an alias for your AWS account.
Lacework utilizes the value of the defined account alias to display the information of your AWS account name.
Here are the steps to create or customize this value:
- Log in to your AWS environment and navigate to Identity and Access Management (IAM)
- If you see your AWS Account ID, and not an alias, this would be why you do not have your AWS account name appearing in Lacework. To update this value, click 'Customize' to the right of your sign-in link.
- Create your Account Alias by entering the desired value in the pop-up text box that appears:
- This will update your AWS Account Alias, create a new friendly sign-in link destination, as well as populate next to your account ID as the account name in the Lacework UI
This can be beneficial or helpful as you can now search through the Lacework platform by account name/alias, rather than utilizing just your AWS Account ID.
This procedure which allows you to update the display name to contain not only the AWS Account ID, but also the AWS Account Alias will be updated and reflected in the Lacework console after the next compliance report run.
